Get ready to make 2018 your best year yet. To start off look back over the past year and see how far you’ve come and then how far you want to go. Every year there is something new to learn, more mistakes to be made, setbacks to experience and breakthroughs to be had. So, there’s nothing more important than starting your year in a positive direction. But it takes work. And you need to be willing to do the work from the moment the New Year starts if you want to create a real transformation in your life.
1. Set Goals
Choose a space that you will look at frequently and write down your goals for the year (or reevaluate them if you already have). Find out what you want to accomplish this coming year. This is the first step in getting what you want.
2. List important assets you need to accomplish those goals.
Chances are, you don’t already have everything you need to accomplish your goals. Write down what you need and figure out a plan to get them. Keep it simple.
3. Wake up 30 minutes earlier
Even if you don’t do anything with the extra time, rising early puts you in the right frame of mind to tackle the day.
4. Minimise or get rid of TV
I know you can’t do without Suits (or maybe just me). That’s okay, as long as you reduce your T.V. consumption down to just a few hours per week.
5. Learn something new
Start your year off with a sense of accomplishment or pride. Learning something new shows that you are taking charge of your future and are productively adding to your life. Take a skills test to see where you can improve your knowledge.
6. Reach out to one person that can move your career forward.
Regardless of the amount of technology we now have available to us it can still be hard to muster the courage to build connections. However, these connections are integral to your long-term success. Take the first step and the rest will just flow.
7. Perform an act of kindness.
Many of us may have lost touch with (or never knew) the power of helping others without expecting anything in return. Doing good for others not only makes you happier but makes everyone you help happier too. What act of kindness can you perform today?
