Right Timing
Great ideas can become wrong ideas very quickly if the timing is wrong. Long before the establishment of Facebook, there were other social media sites such as MySpace, Friendster, Orkut etc. Although these sites aren’t necessarily any worse ideas than Facebook, they weren’t the right idea at the right time.
The workforce is now becoming denser with more tech savvy millennials which are looking for ways to get more done, more efficiently with less effort. But although there is an influx of millennials entering the workplace there is also more software and computer training being conducted in the workplace. This means that everyone benefits when software targeted to workplace productivity and efficiency is released.
SharePoint Online is arriving at the right time. Internet connectivity is much better and more people are looking for cloud based solutions. Microsoft also claims a world-wide latency time of less than 3 seconds for SharePoint Online pages. Which is not too far away from on-premises response times. So going forward, Share Point Online has a lot going for it in contrast to its predecessors and that should hopefully lead to more people using the cloud based software.
O365 Integration
Since both O365 (Office 365) and SharePoint Online are cloud based, it's a pretty seamless integration. You can jump from SharePoint to OneDive, open documents in Word Online in a browser, integrate with Outlook etc. Also since O365 is enjoying better adoption rates, it's an easier sell to push SharePoint Online as the user experience is similar. Since you’re spending less time getting to know the software you can spend more time focusing on your work.
Flow
Although we do teach traditional SharePoint three-state workflows we also like to keep as up to date as possible and integrate new apps into SharePoint online as they become available. Flow, as well as being a part of the Office 365 suite it’s also easy and fun to use. The best part is, that it is constantly evolving as it’s a cloud based application. That means more frequent updates and bug fixes fixed faster. You can start from scratch or you can explore the ever-expanding template library in Flow. You’re sure to find something that fits your needs and it allows you to customise to make your flow, fit like a glove.
